Enjoy Four Great Attractions at Shenandoah Caverns, VA
Shenandoah Caverns is an ideal destination for anyone who enjoys visiting multiple attractions at one location. There are now four attractions on site at this remarkable underground caverns site. Shenandoah Caverns has been captivating visitors in the Shenandoah Valley since 1922. You can take a guided one hour tour of this fascinating and beautiful cave. Visitors have the opportunity to see the Cavern’s most famous cave formation, Cave Bacon. A photograph of these naturally red-colored, limestone draperies was once included in National Geographic magazine.
There are several beautiful draperies to see throughout the half-mile long cave tour, in addition to incredibly high ceilings. Cave Popcorn, Rainbow Lake, Diamond Cascade and Capitol Dome are the names of several other cave formations you will see. Shenandoah Caverns features an elevator for descent and a flat gravel path, so it is particularly well suited for seniors, small children, and individuals with physical disabilities.
The second attraction to visit at Shenandoah Caverns is the American Celebration on Parade, Float Hall of Fame exhibit. You can take a guided tour through floats, props and stage settings that have been used in famous parades including Thanksgiving Day Parades, the Rose Parade and several Presidential Inaugurals. Full-sized floats are incredible to see, and several can be boarded for fun photo opportunities. Some of the floats you will see include gigantic ducks, a huge car, and a fire breathing dragon.
Main Street of Yesteryear is a charming third attraction kids as well as adults will enjoy at Shenandoah Caverns. This area is a unique indoor “street” exhibit. It contains ten complete recreations of elaborate, animated department store window displays typical of American Main Streets decorated for the Christmas season. You’ll see antique animated displays featuring a three-ring circus, Cinderella, and lively animals playing musical instruments. It’s fascinating as well as fun to see these charming old animated displays.
The Yellow Barn is the newest attraction at Shenandoah Caverns. Here you can enjoy exploring fun, interesting depictions of early American rural farm life. You’ll see restored antique farm equipment and machinery, carriages and wagons. Children and adults alike will marvel at the 36-foot tall tree house display with 5-foot tall squirrels.
There is a fascinating indoor bee hive as well as several top quality gift shops at the Yellow Barn. You can shop for wine as well as local arts and crafts and souvenirs. Outside, visit a mini-farm area where you can meet friendly animals, and then relax in the beautiful hummingbird and butterfly garden.
The combination of these four fun, unique attractions makes Shenandoah Caverns a spectacular choice for a fun day in the Shenandoah Valley. All attractions are available for the cost of one low price, and senior citizens and children under14 receive reduced admission rates.
